What is ART? || Art & Craft TALKS |
Introduction
Art is something that stimulates an individual's thoughts, emotions, beliefs, or ideas through the senses and leads to the creativity of a new product or design.
There are
mainly three branches of visual art:-
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Architecture
Painting is
a branch of visual art where the person uses his/her creativity to draw a
particular thing or design. The painter’s imagination to create
something is an Art.
Sculpture is a branch of the visual arts
that operates in three dimensions. It is one of the plastic arts. Durable sculptural processes
originally used carving and modeling, in stone, metal, ceramics, wood, and
other materials.
Architecture is
an art form that reflects how we present ourselves across the earth’s
landscape, and, like other expressive mediums, it changes with styles,
technologies, and cultural adaptations.
The Ocean of “Art”
When activists are showing images of people suffering from poverty or
oppression, this is an art of pulling the heartstrings of society’s elite and
powerful to make changes.
Similarly, when photographers publish photos of war-torn areas, it
catches the attention of masses whose hearts reach out to those who need help.
When an artist creates great music and movies, it entertains people around the world. This is the art of giving back to society with love and affection.
Always
remember this, "Arts makes a difference to everyone’s life."
Every person has an artist inside
them. A Chef, a Sportsperson, an Entrepreneur,
each one of them is an artist.
Because a Chef cooks food and
from his creativity brings new dishes to the customers' table. A Sportsperson
plays shots all across the field through his/her creativity.
And an Entrepreneur brings out
unique ideas to serve the people.
Art is a quite defining and impactful way to change the world. No work or play can be
done without art.
Importance of Art
Also, art
can help one to discover and understand things about oneself that were never
recognized. Finally, including art in daily life
can help someone to become better at something that might not even be
considered remotely artistic.
A
lot of complex problems such as race, religion, and politics have been
simplified using artworks, including songs, poetry, and drawings.
With
the use of music, stories, artifacts, and
the creative process itself, one can express his/her view on any social
issue. Art also makes it easier for students in schools to think critically
and grasp a wide range of topics that help to shape what they become later in
life.
For
adults, art can be used in corporate settings to help people understand complex
data, as well as to create models that demonstrate a state of affairs or future
path.
Why art is powerful?
In the words of Leo Tolstoy:
“The activity of art is based on the capacity of people to infect others with their own emotions and to be infected by the emotions of others. Strong emotions, weak emotions, important emotions or irrelevant emotions, good emotions or bad emotions – if they contaminate the reader, the spectator, or the listener – it attains the function of art.”
Art is considered powerful because of the many
reasons, some of them are listed below :
1) Art has the power to educate people about
almost anything. It can create awareness and
present information in a way that could be absorbed by many easily. In a world
where there are those who don’t even have access to good education; art makes
education an even greater equalizer of society.
2) It promotes cultural appreciation among a generation
that’s currently preoccupied with their technology. In fact, it can be said that if it weren’t for art, our history, culture,
and traditions would be in more danger of being forgotten than
they already are.
3) It breaks cultural, social, and economic barriers. While art can’t really solve poverty or promote
social justice on its own, it can be used as a leveled playing field for
discourse and expression. The reason why everyone can relate to art is that
everyone has emotions and personal experiences. Therefore, anyone can learn to
appreciate art regardless of their social background, economic
standing, or political affiliation.
4) It accesses higher orders of thinking. Art doesn’t just make you absorb information. Rather, it makes you
think about current ideas and inspire you to make your own. As said, Creativity is
a form of intelligence – it is a special ability that unlocks the potential of
the human mind. In fact, studies have shown that exposure to art can make you
better in other fields of knowledge.
Many times in history have we heard of people being
criticized, threatened, censored, and even killed because of their artwork.
Today, people have recognized how powerful art can be. Political leaders use different forms of art to express their views on a
particular topic.
Conclusion
Today also, ancient art exists but in a very different and digital
form. Nowadays social media platforms have become a major source of digital
artists.
The very saying “selling is an art” has
come a long way and is very true in today’s society, with the emergence of
social media influencers and digital marketers.
